I knew I shouldn’t have built that snowman

You may remember a post I wrote a month or so ago about my first time EVER building a snowman. You read that right, I’ve lived in Utah for seven years of my life but had never made a snowman until this year. There were a lot of factors at play in my managing to never have that experience for so long, but at a certain point the effort not to build one became deliberate. That was when I realized that when I played the game “never have I ever”, I could get everyone else out by saying that I had never built a snowman. When you feel like you’ve found your people

Tonight was New Beginnings. If you’re not Mormon, you have no idea what that is, but when the girls in our church turn 12, they go from Primary (with all the kids), to Young Women (with all the almost grown-ups). It’s a big deal. New Beginnings happens once a year to highlight and welcome all of the girls that will turn 12 that year, and if you missed it the other day, the 12 year olds is the class of girls that I am now serving overContinue reading

I thought I was too old to party that late

Yesterday was my first day skipping blogging as part of my new experiment with blogging in a less scheduled way, and I have to say, it worked out rather splendidly. You see, last night was a “Ladies Night In” that one of my neighbors hosted to get to know some of the other ladies around here. I was so excited to have a girl’s night! It was basically all of the same people who would be at your typical Relief Society activity, which we’ve already discussed about how I don’t typically want to go, but I was simply giddy about this get together.  Continue reading

I didn’t want to go, but I’m glad I went

Earlier this week I saw an email from our Relief Society about an activity that would be tonight and I remember thinking “that might be fun to go to, I’ll have to coordinate with Marty so that I can go”. Well, I totally forgot about it shortly thereafter, that is until a friend text messaged me and another friend to see if one of us could bring cookies in her place- she was stuck at home with super sick kids.  Continue reading
